Christopher Raymond Kemple, often known as Chris or Ray by friends and family, passed away on April 4, 2024, where he lived in Parkersburg, WV at the young age of 24. He was born on October 22, 1999 in Salem, Oregon to his biological mother, Lori Buhler. Two years later Christopher was adopted by his great uncle and aunt, Ken and Teresa Kemple where he lived the next 7 years in Colorado. In 2009 Christopher and his family moved to Ohio. Christopher is survived by his parents, his siblings, Jason (Amber) Kemple, Katie (John) Dehnart, Kevin Kemple, nieces and nephews Joanie, Chloe, Evan, Rigby, Cole, Henry, Kayde, Story, and Roary Ray, cousins, aunts and uncles, his great grandpa Ray, and the love of his life, Lila Mitchell. Chris enjoyed his team sports including soccer, basketball and baseball, but especially enjoyed his horses and 4H projects. He graduated from high school in 2018 with 2 years of college credit. Christopher joined the Army Reserves in 2017. After successful completion of Basic and Advanced Individual Training Chris served overseas in Kuwait, Syria, Iraq and Germany and was Honorably discharged in 2022. He was involved in local theater for several years, including participation in several Passion Plays at the Opera House and Beverly High School productions, which he enjoyed very much. His high school jobs included summer farmhand at Arnold Farms and his years at Do It Best Hardware Store. Christopher had a smile that would light up anyone he was with, and was known for his humor, honesty, and willingness to help those in need. This willingness to help extended to animals as well, and especially to his faithful dog, Max. A Military service to honor his life and his commitment to our country will be held on April 22, 2024 at 4:00pm at Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville, OH. Family and friends will be invited to speak. Christopher's legacy of humor, hard work, love of animals and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
